Youth Philanthropy & Community Outreach
- Discreet Lifeline Support: With the support and blessings of Darlene Soave, we provide assistance for mortgages, medical equipment (like AC units for veterans with COPD or Agent Orange exposure), and nutritional needs. Very often event organizers do not realize that these veterans cannot even afford the gas to attend events; we ensure there is no worry on the part of these military Legends to attend events with everything they need, as well as their day-to-day needs. These include personal hygiene products which sometimes include needs of the elderly which may cause them embarrassment like incontinence products and bedding pads which we discreetly provide, ensuring military Legends always maintain their dignity at all times.
- The USA Hockey Blessing Bag Initiative: This is how we make kindness fun. The USA Hockey team and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan worked alongside World War II veterans and original Rosie the Riveters to pack blessing bags with nutritional items and necessities, as well as lots of fun treats. These bags were delivered to 200 veterans throughout the state of Michigan who are in compromised and vulnerable states, including veterans without homes and home bound veterans.
- Our Heroes Cookie Program: Through the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, thousands of boxes of cookies are coordinated for delivery to our veterans. This program ensures that our heroes know they are remembered and appreciated by the youngest members of our community.
- Toys for Tots: Restoring the Military Legacy:
- Annual Military Legend Toys for Tots Event: This gathering brings together World War II veterans, Rosie the Riveters, Tuskegee Airmen, Korean War veterans, Vietnam veterans, Girl Scouts, and local schools to honor the military legend of Toys for Tots.
- The Gift Exchange Program: This heart-centered exchange ensures our legends are honored and remembered by the children they serve at this beautiful time of the year.
- Scale of Service: This year, we supplied 7,000 families with toys.
- Fulfilling the Wish: We coordinated the first-ever Toys for Tots event with the Tuskegee Airmen in Detroit, a wish conveyed by Lieutenant Colonel Harry Stewart to Herb Elfring.
- The Autistic Warrior Toy Program: Specialized toys and items for people with Autism, ADD, ADHD, and veterans with PTSD.
